Why I built this
A note from the founder
When my daughter started preparing for the 11+, I bought the usual books and printed practice papers. Every evening I'd mark them by hand and try to work out what was going wrong. Was she rushing? Missing clues in the passage? Mixing up her spellings? The books gave me the answers, but not the reasons.
I'm an engineer, so I built something to do the marking for me: it explains every answer and keeps track of which kinds of question she keeps getting wrong. It helped us, and I think it can help other families too.
One thing bothered me the whole time. Families who can pay for tutors and practice packs start the 11+ with a real head start. So if your child gets free school meals or the pupil premium, or money is tight, it's free. Here's how to get a free place. No forms, and no proof needed.
If anything's wrong or confusing, email me at hello@11plus4all.co.uk. I read every email.

How it works
- Your child sits a paper online. It's timed like the real test, and you can pause the timer. English papers keep the reading passage next to the questions.
- It's marked straight away. You see the score for each part of the paper, whether that's comprehension, fractions, letter codes or shape rotations.
- You see what to work on. Every wrong answer comes with an explanation, and a chart shows which skills lost the most marks, with a tip for each one.
- Try again later. Every attempt is saved, so you can see scores go up over the weeks.

Questions parents ask
Which exams is this for?
The multiple-choice 11+ papers used by many grammar and independent schools: English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. Schools set different mixes, so check your target schools' admissions pages. Some schools also set a written paper, which you'll need to practise separately.
Are these real past papers?
No. Real 11+ papers aren't published, and anything claiming to be a real paper should make you suspicious. Every question here was written for 11plus4all in the multiple-choice style, and every answer has been checked.
Is it connected to GL Assessment or any school?
No. 11plus4all is independent. We're not endorsed by GL Assessment, CEM or any school.
What age is it for?
Mostly Year 5, and Year 6 up to the exam in September. The Standard papers suit most Year 5 children. The Challenging ones are for when they're scoring well.
Can my child retake a paper?
Yes, as often as they like. Leaving a few weeks between attempts works best, so they don't just remember the answers.
Does it work on a tablet?
Yes, and on phones too. A tablet or laptop is easier for the reasoning papers, which have lots of diagrams.
Who's behind it?
A parent and engineer in North London. You can read more in our story. 11plus4all is a trading name of Blusens Ltd.
What if it's not right for us?
Email us. See the refund policy for the details, but if something isn't working, we'll try to put it right.
